In addition to our regular tutoring and workshops, we also offer monthly and end-of-semester events focused on helping students complete specific projects and develop writing accountability. If you have questions about any of these events, please feel free to contact us at commlab@gatech.edu.

Dissertation Accelerator
Overview
The Dissertation Accelerator, hosted at the end of fall and spring semesters, is designed for those students looking to make significant progress on their dissertations, across the process. Open to all currently enrolled GT doctoral students who are actively working on their dissertations, the Accelerator is a week-long program that addresses the processes and genres associated with the dissertation process. Each day, the Accelerator delivers structured time to write, accountability to help students reach their goals, community to support them throughout the process, and access to curated workshops that provide attendees with tools and strategies for completing their dissertations. The Accelerator offers both in-person and remote options for participation; however, space is limited and acceptance into the program is determined by where students are in their process, with priority going to those who are nearing the end of their dissertation work. Note: The Accelerator is not a writing course, and students should be prepared to write independently over the course of the week. To receive updates about registration for the Accelerator and other events, make sure to create a profile with us by logging in to the WC Online system at https://gatech.mywconline.com/.
Upcoming Events
Our next Accelerator will take place Monday, April 28th through Friday, May 3rd, 2025. Registration will open in early April.
GradWrite
Overview
GradWrite is a fully online, asynchronous 12-week structured writing support program open to master's and doctoral students working on longform writing projects such as dissertations, theses, articles for publication, book chapters, or grants. Participants will participate in weekly asynchronous writing activities to support their projects and have access to a dedicated writing specialist for individual coaching. The program will run from February through April, beginning on February 3rd.
How The Programs Works
Participants are expected to spend time each week working on a long form writing project: typically, a dissertation or thesis chapter or an article for publication, but potentially a dissertation proposal or grant proposal. While working on their project, participants will complete a series of 12 modules, each with a reading and discussion board prompt to be completed during the week. Modules will be released on Mondays.
Participants will also complete 5 activities throughout the program at times of their choosing, based on their writing needs. Participants also have access to 45-minute coaching and feedback sessions with the program leader and Director of the Naugle Communication Center, Dr. Caitlin Kelly.
Participants who complete 12 discussion board responses, 5 activities, attend 1 coaching session with Dr. Kelly, and submit a complete draft of their writing project by May 1, 2025 will receive a Certificate of Completion. Please Note: this program carries no course credit.
GradWrite is a new initiative for Spring 2025 supported by the Provost's Fund for Excellent in Graduate Studies.
